This is a well-preserved, 5.2″ wide, 3D fossil Echinoid of the genus Clypeaster collected near Taza, Morocco. There is a large section of rock that has been left along the bottom of the specimen.
Animals of the Clypeaster genus are more commonly referred to as “sea biscuits or cake urchins. The genus first appeared in the Late Eocene and survives until today.
