This is a very unusual fossil starfish from the Tiouririne Formation near Kaid Rami, Morocco. All five of the arms are covered in feathery spines. When I was in Morocco this past November I was able to acquire a few of these rare starfish fossils which I have not previously seen. The detail is amazing the the orange limonite preservation is quite striking. This starfish measures 3.9″ and it is associated with three carpoids on a 10.6 x 5.2″ piece of limestone.
