This is an absolutely gorgeous, well preserved fossil brittle star (Palaeocoma egertoni), collected from the Bridport Sands (Middle Lias) of Dorset, England. It is Lower Jurassic in age, or approximately 200 million years old. It has been prepared using air abrasives to expose the wonderful details, and is centered on a slab of limestone. It’s 2.8″ wide across its longest measurement.
One edge of the rock has been cut flat for presentation purposes.
